The Moros, AKA, Morokodo, live in southern Sudan. They are defined by their language, Moro.
Moros are farmers who grow sorghum, groundnuts, simsim, shea oil and tobacco. They get their protein from their cattle, goats, and chickens, but also from hunting and fishing. Their homeland has potential for a timber industry.
They are united by their own social norms and a sense of being Moro. Pre-marital sex is not allowed. The groom must provide fish or wild game for the bride s family. Marriage ceremonies are a big celebration for the Moros. They hold high moral standards for their chiefs.
Newborn babies and their mothers are secluded for three days until the elders shout out the name of the child to their neighbors.
Most Moros are Christian, but animism and witchcraft are important in their spiritual beliefs.
They are an oral culture, and they have a complete Bible and many evangelistic tools. They need someone to take these to every family.
Pray for every Moro family leader to have a copy of the JESUS Film.
Pray for their leaders to have the spiritual hunger it takes to rise above their cultural affinity for witchcraft.
Pray that soon Moros will disciple people to disciple others.
